A CCTV camera covering a busy night-life spot in Brentwood is set to return to operational status in the near future after being out of action for several months due to building work.

The local council has confirmed that they’re in negotiation with the developer of new flats above the Slug and Lettuce bar to ensure the area is covered in future, a news report in the local media could reveal.

The development began at the end of last year, leaving the junction between the town’s two late night drinking venues unwatched.

Ashley Culverwell, Brentwood Borough Council’s head of borough safety and localism, said:

“The use of the CCTV cameras in Brentwood is part of a joint operation which involves the police, town centre traders, licensed premises and security staff who are actively using Townlink radio to identify suspicious behaviour and provide additional information which is co-ordinated by the CCTV control room to detect and prevent crime.”
