A local council’s cabinet has expressed its continued and full commitment to funding CCTV cameras across the area, despite some severe budget cuts, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

The Arun District Council’s cabinet voted to continue their commitment to CCTV cameras across the area, despite Bognor Regis and Littlehampton town councils not knowing if they would be able to continue their commitment.

Arun is responsible for and owns 19 cameras in the district, 12 of which are in Bognor.

Roger Wood, Arun’s head of neighbourhoods said: “There is a cost to CCTV, but we have had positive feedback from our colleagues at Sussex Police and also from local businesses which have been contacted and asked for their views and they are very much in favour of its provision because of the security it gives them and the contribution to community safety.”
