Bowls club to install top-range CCTV system following act of vandalism

Members of a top bowls club have decided to install a high-end CCTV surveillance system to guard the premises after vandals destroyed its turf a few weeks ago.

Members of the Frinton Bowls Club have been working round the clock to try to fix the damage since it was found nearly three weeks ago as their new season starts in April, a news report has been able to reveal.

Now, the club has decided to put £800 towards new CCTV cameras to stop it happening again.

Club bosses will pay the money themselves from membership fees to make sure the hi-tech gear is installed quickly, but have appealed for help to fund it. Secretary Richard Roffe has asked Frinton and Walton Town Council for a donation.

He said: “The club is about to take its membership fees for the next year, but the vast majority of that goes on running the club and maintaining the green. We agreed we have to get the cameras because the damage was awful.

“We have got one of the very best clubs and greens in the whole of Essex and it needs to be protected.”
