CCTV system installed to curb Wishaw youth crime

A mobile surveillance camera was installed in a busy shopping area in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, in an attempt to reduce antisocial behaviour and youth disorder, a recent news report on the matter was able to reveal.

The mobile camera installed by Police Scotland is meant to play a double role in the anti-social activity hotspot – catch culprits and also deter others from engaging in such activities.

Inspector Alistair Anderson, of Wishaw Police Office, said: “Over the past couple on months we have received a high volume of reports of youth related disorder and anti social behaviour in and around the Tiree Crescent area.

“The siting of this camera will provide invaluable support to the police in combating this type of behaviour and will also act as an effective tool in helping to provide residents with an improved quality of life in their neighbourhood.”
