Fylde Council’s cabinet will approve plans for an £80,000 scheme to replace 19 CCTV cameras after many were found to be out of date, a news report reveals.

After agreeing to an initial proposal back in December, the council’s cabinet is set to add a further £36,000 to plans. The improvements are greatly needed, since a report to the cabinet by council officer Bryan Ward revealed that 19 cameras used in Fylde are in need of urgent replacement.

Coun Cheryl Little, portfolio holder for social wellbeing, said: “Most of the cameras are more than 10 years old and were increasingly breaking down. I am really pleased we are putting the money towards it and are able to help and give reassurance to Fylde residents.”
