HMIC report outlines interoperability problems in public CCTV surveillance

A recent report released by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) and HM Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate (HMCPSI) revealed that, while significant effort has been made in recent years to improve efficiency in both the custody and criminal justice process, there are still a number of issues identified in past reports on this subject which continue to generate delays in processing cases.

The report, officially named “Stop the Drift 2: A Continuing Focus on 21st Century Criminal Justice“ points out, among other factors, the difficulty the police and courts have dealing with CCTV and the number of different formats.

CCTV Surveillance has a very comprehensive level of expertise in the field of security installations, delivering high-quality, bespoke installations, designed to perfectly match the customers’ needs. Moreover, all of our solutions adhere to the highest security standards, since all of our surveillance products are fully compliant with the UK Police Requirements.

The surveillance solutions developed by CCTV Surveillance are built around a dedicated software application that allows individual users to set their own criteria for viewing selected footage from particular CCTV cameras within the network. Password and security features limit the viewing of certain cameras to specific groups of people, enabling you to securely manage who is able to see particular areas of activity.

Footage can be captured at a rate of up to 25 frames per second – the same rate as that of the PAL standard for commercial video playback – however, this often leads to the generation of large image files. The software enables you to adjust the frame rate allowing you to retain evidence quality CCTV footage whilst reducing the amount of memory required for each video clip.

Built-in MPEG-4 support provides simultaneous viewing of both JPEG and MPEG-4 video streams, allowing the user to optimize bandwidth usage on constrained networks.

A straight forward drag and drop GUI, together with saved screen views provide the user with an easy to use viewing solution, offering a seamless single user interface to all connected products.

If you’d like to get some additional information on the high-end surveillance and security solutions CCTV Surveillance can deliver, our dedicated product team is ready to answer all of your questions.
