London transport crime is going down, Tube violence on the rise

A new report drawn up by sources in the security industry points out that, although the level of crime across the London transport network has dropped significantly, violence on the London Underground is, unfortunately, on the rise.

New annual data from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) and British Transport Police shows crime across Transport for London’s (TfL’s) network dropped in total by 2.3 per cent compared to last year.

On the other hand, the figures show that violence on the London Underground and Docklands Light Railway has increased, with crime rising by 5.7 per cent year-on-year but remaining at its lowest-ever level at 9.6 crimes per million passenger journeys.
