Motorists driving along the M6 will be able to enjoy a superior level of safety by having access to better information, as part of a project set to be implemented by the Highways Agency as of next week.

As part of this project, four of the latest electronic variable message signs are to be installed around junction 33 at Galgate and new CCTV cameras will be installed on these signs, allowing the Highways Agency traffic officers to monitor and manage motorway incidents in a much more timely and effective manner.

The new signs and cameras will be placed a mile and half a mile in each direction from junction 33, with a fifth camera, erected on a standalone mast, erected at the junction itself. The installation work will begin on Monday and should be completed by March 14, a news report in the local media has revealed.
