New ANPR parking system to be implemented at Warwick Hospital

A new parking system that employs ANPR technology to automatically read the number plates of vehicles entering and leaving the car park is set to be deployed at Warwick Hospital, a recent news report in the local media has been able to suggest.

The new system will come into force at Warwick on December 16. It uses specialized CCTV cameras and CCTV software to take note of one’s number plate as they enter the car park.

Upon leaving, the motorist enters their number plate at a pay machine, which tells them how much to pay depending on how long their stay has been.

A spokesperson from the South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust said: “As part of the Trust’s investment in car parking, a new ticketless payment system: Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) is being introduced to both our patients and visitors’ car parks on Monday, December 16.

“The Trust is always looking to enhance patient experience through numerous initiatives and developments which is why Warwick Hospital has introduced Automatic Number Plate Recognition.

“Combined with improved car park monitoring and management, ANPR will help provide a secure and efficient service for our patients and workforce.
