245 terrorism arrests were made in the year to September 30 2012, a 60% increase compared to the previous year, says a new report from the Home Office.

The report contains statistical data relating to the Terrorism Act 2000 and submitted by a variety of official bodies, including the Association of Chief Police Officers, Crown Prosecution Service, National Offender Management Service, Scottish Prison Service and police forces in Great Britain.

Of the 245 arrested persons, 45 (18%) were actually charged with an offence. 10 have already been convicted of a terrorism-related offence, while 25 more were awaiting prosecution in mid-January.

Quite obviously, most (if not all) of these arrests were made following a very strict surveillance procedure, using a variety of more or less covert cameras, which is exactly CCTV Surveillance’s area of expertise.
