Wardens wearing uniforms complete with body worn CCTV could be deployed to patrol the streets of Gravesend and tackle the growing problem of littering, a recent news report was able to reveal.

Gravesham council has decided to get take tougher action against litter bugs by introducing a new scheme across the city. The initiative, in partnership with the company Kingdom, will see two officers on a trial period patrolling five days a week.

Plans for the scheme will go before a scrutiny committee and, if given the final green light, could be put into action as soon as December. The litter wardens will have the power to fine people £75 for littering and dog fouling.
